Food Festival Workshop: Wild Cooking & Foraging

We hosted an interactive workshop and demonstration of wild food, foraging and outdoor cooking at Newtown Food Festival. The workshop was open to all ages to have a go for themselves. We cooked; hazel choc cakes, popcorn, toffee apple slices, wild teas, damper bread, smoked fish, hedgerow crumble and baked a loaf of bread in a dutch oven. Everyone had a great time. Also, Lea ran several demonstrations of how to make natural remedies from wild plants found around the site, using weeds for medicine.
We loved doing this workshop and we're available for other Food Festivals or events that would like to book our workshop and demo. Please get in touch.

At out Midwinter Solstice in the Woods event James and Ian play that much loved folk classic "Shove the Pigs Foot a Little Closer to the Fire" Believe it or not, that's actually what this tune is called 🙂 Thanks to everyone who joined us for a memorable night, we can't wait to do it again.

Recorded on 21st Dec 2017 in the wild woods of Wales.

Woodland Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is the darkest day of the year, so what better time to celebrate in the woodland with fire, food and friends than at Midwinter. A lantern lit walk down to the woods, hot spiced cider, roasted chestnuts and acoustic music created a magical evening for everyone who came. This is a very special night and we celebrate it every year.
